War Against the Weak' author to speak at MSU
EAST LANSING - Edwin Black, author of "War Against the Weak," will speak Thursday at Michigan State University.
Black, an award-winning journalist and author, will discuss his book at a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the MSU Union's Gold Room. Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students. Call 699-2960 to reserve.
From 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Black will hold a book signing and discussion at Barnes & Noble, 333 E. Grand River Ave.
City buys access road to E.L. Soccer Complex
EAST LANSING -The city on Tuesday opened a new paved access route into the East Lansing Soccer Complex.
city bought the road, which was built by Atlantis Development. The firm
owns neighboring Village at Chandler Crossings apartment complex at
Chandler and Coleman roads.
The road replaces an unpaved and
minimally marked access road. It improves safety and allows vehicles to
enter and leave the complex parking area from Coleman Road, City
Manager Ted Staton said.
The city paid fair market value for
the road and saved thousands of dollars it would have cost to
reconstruct the existing road, officials said.
Flu shots available at Ingham facility
flu shot clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ingham
Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 825 E. Michigan Ave., today and Thursday.
Walk-ins are welcome.
The flu shots are $18. Also available are pneumonia ($25) and meningitis ($100) vaccinations.
